2 Timothy 4:19
Greet Priscilla and Aquila and the household of Onesiphorus.

Pirmi silang magkasama, sa hirap at ginhawa, sa lamig at init. Hindi na halos sila naghihiwalay. Aquila and Priscilla faced persecution together. They moved about and lived together. They worked together and they sheltered Paul and even travelled extensively with him. They taught and encouraged Apollos together, They opened their house to the Lord’s church together.

Pero ang mag-asawang ito, they agreed even in the way they were inconvenienced. Ang naging resulta, they were always greeted together. Are you linked with each other so obviously that people always mention your names together?

Pero we should know when to stop dahil hindi naman nauubos ang kailangang bilhin. You work and work for your family and when you go home you have no family to go home to. Nagiging destructive din.

Togetherness is the essence of joy.

POVERTY MENTALITY

Philippians 4:19
And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

We should be set free not only from material poverty but also from poverty mentality. Why? Because we are children of the King.

Yung sobrang takot na takot sa gutom, takot na takot mawalan, takot na takot na walang pera—that is poverty mentality. Why? Lagi silang nag-aalala not having enough provision.

Papaano natin malalamang meron tayong excessive fear of want? Sa pagbibigay, halimbawa, masyado tayong kuripot. When you give to the church, kokonti. “Ay, aba! Be practical. Paano na tayo bukas? Kanya-kanyang kayod talaga yan!”

You only have to have the rich mentality. Rich in the Lord, believing that the Lord will provide.

Many people are not able to let God prove himself because they depend on themselves too much. It’s not wrong to work and use all of our resources to be productive. But on top of it all, we should only be really dependent on God.

BAKIT HABIT?

2 Thessalonians 3:10
For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.”

Out of habit. Kung nangungutang tayo out of habit let us forge that habit. Kung nakasanayan, tanggallin. Bakit habit mangutang, umasa, magpalusot? Hindi dapat.

Do not lend to borrowers whose intentions are mentioned above. Christian charity does not mean na tayo ay maging kunsintidor. God’s kindness is not meant to tolerate mistakes but to change people. If it is to be a painful process, so be it.

Help must be given only to those who work and do their best. Or to those who are really incapacitated to work.

NOT FOREVER

Numbers 31:27
Divide the spoils between the soldiers who took part in the battle and the rest of the community.

This is the wrong use of utang na loob. Utang na loob as a tool of oppressing others is ungodly. Jesus sets free and we must be free even from the debts of our forefathers. Nagbabayad tayo but not at the expense of our dignity and our well-being.

Ang katuruan nga is to recognize those who help us. But don’t allow this concept of utang na loob to turn you into a slave for life. Utang na loob is not forever.

THE FOLLY OF PRIDE

Proverbs 16:5
The LORD detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.

Pride separates man from God. One of the main elements of pride is self-reliance. Self-reliance or pride puts God out of the picture. It is a form of pride kasi we are actually saying, “I don’t need God’s guidance.”

Pride also separates man from his fellow men.

This is the ultimate reason why Satan wants us proud – to isolate us from God and from fellowmen para walang tutulong sa atin at nang masolo nya tayo.
