Are any of you wise or sensible? Then show it by living right and by being humble and wise in everything you do.

Kagalang-galang ang mga taong mababa ang loob at mapagpakumbaba. Dignity comes from God. Pride comes from the devil. Dignity is staying grounded in spite or because of success, health, beauty and even prosperity. Kasi alam nating tumatanaw lang tayo ng utang na loob sa Dios. Humble people lead quiet lives. Paano magkakaroon ng katahimikan ang mga mayayabang kung yung ipinagyayabang nila ay biglang nawala? Paano kung yung kagandahan ay nadaganan ng tren? Yung kayamanan ay naubos sa isang maling investment? Yung health ay biglang nawala dahil sa pagdapo ng isang sakit? Laging nag-aalala ang mayayabang na tao dahil baka hindi nila ma-maintain yung ipinagyayabang nila. Kasi pagka bigla silang bumagsak, maaaring ikatutuwa pa ng iba, kaya bakit ka magyayabang?

Kaya tanungin natin, sino ba talaga ang mga marurunong? Yung may mababang loob na nagmumula sa karunungan. Kung tayo ay maganda, mayaman, malusog at matagumpay ‘tapos humble tayo, bumagsak man tayo sa buhay, marami pa ring tutulong at makikiisang loob sa atin, at hindi tayo nangangamba na may magtatawa o gaganti sa atin kung nawalan man tayo ng kapangyarihan. Isang malaking kabulaanan ang pride.

Only people who have no grasp of reality can be proud. And only people who are courting disaster remain proud. The humble are wise, ready for any possible reversal in fortunes. The humble are not pressured to maintain high standards of living. The humble are ready when they are tested, just in case it is taken away. Ang tunay na marunong ay hindi magyayabang.

Dignified people, because they are inhabited by the Spirit of God, are responsible and dependable katulad ni King David who served God well and enabled his kingdom to live in peace. Because he was responsible, he was given the privilege to enjoy a long life, even wealth and honor.

May mga kanya-kanya tayong papel at posisyon sa buhay. At kahit na ano’ng papel pa yan, minsan nangangailangan na gumawa tayo ng mga mahihirap na desisyon. Decisions lead to results so we own up to our responsibilities. Kung sakaling ang mga desisyong binitiwan ay hindi naging maganda ang bunga, dapat nating akuin ang mga pananagutan sa mga desisyong iyon.   Dinadaig ng mga taong kagalang-galang ang hirap ng kanilang pananagutan sa pamamagitan ng tibay ng loob. Marunong silang umako ng mga bunga ng kanilang mga desisyon. Hindi nila tinatakasan ang bunga ng kanilang mga ginagawa lalo na kung may ibang mga napahamak, nasaktan at nagdusa.

Kaya yung mga taong may delicadeza pag nagkaroon ng maraming mali ang mga tao beneath him in the organizational chart, nagbibitiw sa trabaho kahit hindi siya ang personal na may kasalanan kasi aakuin nya yung command responsibility. Pero sa mga taong makakapal, kahit sobrang eskandalo na ang nangyayari hindi pa rin nagre-resign. Dignified people do not escape from their responsibilities even through the convenience of scapegoats.

Don’t even think about cursing the king; don’t curse the rich, not even in secret. A little bird might hear and tell everything.

Do not provoke the powerful to destroy you. Nakikita mo kung minsan, nagtatalo lang sa parking lot, pinagalitan nya yung katalo nya, may baril pala, binaril siya. Tama man siya, patay naman siya. Hayaan mo na, huwag ka nang makipaglaban d’yan. Kung minsan, sa jeepney, makikipag-away ka sa driver dahil sa sukli. Kung hahatawin ka naman ng tubo, kanya na yung singkwenta sentimos. May mga giyera na para ka manalo, dapat magpatalo ka, kasi sa pagkakatalo lang, nananalo ka. Pag ipinagpilitan mong manalo, dun ka lang natatalo. You must know when to let go.

Do not cross the path of someone who has momentum. Sino yun? Yung taong kitang-kita mong panahon nya dahil napakarami nyang kapangyarihan ngayon. Walang mangyayari sa iyo. Anyone in a winning streak, an ascending car, a running boy, pare-pareho yan – mayroon silang energy. Panahon nila. Wala kang mapapala na makipagbanggaan. Lalung-lalo ingatan mo ang iyong salita. Ang daming tao na wala na ngang kapangyarihan, ang hilig pang magchismis. ‘Tapos pag nalaman ng chinismis nila yung sinabi nila, tanggal sila sa trabaho, nawawalan sila ng pribilehiyo. Tigilan natin. Lalo na kung wala naman kayong ipagmamalaking kapangyarihan.

Sinuman ang may kapangyarihan, alam nyo man o hindi, huwag mong inisin, at huwag mong hayaang makigulo siya. At the end of the day, ikaw ang kawawa. Don’t argue with those who have power which you do not have.

Genesis 39:9

“No one in my master’s house is more important than I am. The only thing he hasn’t given me is you, and that’s because you are his wife. I won’t sin against God by doing such a terrible thing as this.”

Sa Genesis 39:6-10, we witness a healthy, handsome, young man named Joseph being seduced by his master’s wife who must have been a very beautiful woman. Joseph was the master slave in the house of this Egyptian officer. Egyptian women, especially wives of officers, were always perfumed, manicured and pedicured, coiffed and beautified. But Joseph refused to sleep with his master’s wife. He practiced a very personal morality. How many of us will still be highly moral if we were alone?

Pag hindi mo na kasama si Kuya, si Ate, si Pastor, si Elder, ‘tapos may nang-aakit pa sa iyo with the promise of secrecy because you both were already inside the same house, what would you do? When the crowd or the fellowship is not there anymore, and you are by yourself, what will you do? What we do in those moments is who we really are.

Kahit lagi tayong present sa lahat ng church activities pero we do not privately pray or fast or worship or study God’s word, we will only be one-half strong. While it is commendable to be an active and functioning church member, there is a brand of growth that is available only in aloneness and in our personal walk with Jesus Christ. Personal spirituality is who you and I really are.

Don’t try to get even. Trust the LORD, and he will help you.

Huwag gantihan ng masama ang masama, dahil gagantihan ka nya uli ng mas masama and you will never get out of this cycle. But break the cycle of evil will and bad relationship with something good, and then you start something good. You cannot change people you dislike? Turn them into people that you could like by doing something good to them. Change yourself. It’s a lot easier. You can do it with God’s help.        

When you do good to people, you begin to dislike them less and less. You will begin to even like them. That’s why the prescription of the Lord is, gumawa ka nang mabuti sa hindi gumagawa nang mabuti sa iyo. Malaki ang pagkakataong sila’y magbago at bumuti sa iyo. At kung hindi man sila magbago sa paggawa mo nang mabuti sa kanila, ikaw ang mababago. Magsisimula kang magkaroon ng simpatiya, ng amor, ng malasakit hanggang mamahal mo na yung tao. Doing good to others changes them. But, more than that, it changes you.

Sabi nga ng Panginoon, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Binibigyan nya tayo ng ganitong payo para tayo papanalunin.   And in the game of life, we know that only love wins, hatred always loses. You might be able to do violent things against people you hate, but at the end of the day, you’re still a loser. You will be filled with guilt, have more enemies and less friends, and your world will become smaller. So doing good is good for them and for you.
