Colossians 3:23-24

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

“I’m tired of serving people. I’m tired of serving my relatives, my friends, my amo. Wala nang ginawa ang mga tao kundi pagurin ako.” Alam nyo ang sagot ng Panginoon dyan? “Serve me!”

Sino man ang naglilingkod sa mga tao ay parang ang Panginoon din ang pinaglilingkuran. At sino man ang gumagawa ng masama sa kanila, ang Panginoon din ang ginagawan ng masama, kasi ang Panginoon ang magulang nating lahat. Nilikha ng Dios ang lahat ng tao. Mahal nya ang lahat ng tao.

Di ba’t pag may anak kayo, pag may gumawa ng mabuti sa kanya, parang kayo na rin ang ginawan ng mabuti? Pero pag ginawan yung anak natin ng masama, tayo ang unang-unang nagdaramdam? Ganun ang Panginoon.

Lalung-lalo na sa ministry. Inis na inis ka na, Miss Usherette, sa mga matitigas ang ulong church members na ayaw sumunod. Naiinis ka na, Choir Director, sa mga choir members mong hindi makarating-rating sa oras. Nayayamot ka na sa pinaglilingkuran mo and everything. Sabi ng Lord, “Napapagod ka kasi you think that you are serving people. Pero i-consider mo, anak, that you are serving me. In oither words, ina-appreciate ko ang ginagawa mo, hindi ka man nila ina-appreciate.”

Think, consider and know that you are serving the Lord when you serve people and you will be refreshed.

Matthew 16:13

When Jesus and his disciples were near the town of Caesarea Philippi, he asked them, “What do people say about the Son of Man?”

Know-it-all people could be very vexing. Walang nag-eenjoy makasama ang mga nagpapakitang alam nila ang lahat. In fact, nakakailang sila. Sasabihin mo pa lang, “Sa palagay ko, bagay sa iyo ang red,” sasabihin nya, “Alam kong bagay sa akin ang red.” Ang hirap ng ganung kausap. Hindi ka na nya bibigyan ng pagkakataong magmukhang matalino dahil mas matalino siya lagi sa iyo. May sasabihin kang kapiraso lagi nyang tatabunan ng mas marami nyang kaalaman. The Lord was not like that, though he knew everything. He listened and asked very good questions.

Pag marunong tayong magtanong sa isang tao, yung akala nyang alam nya ay mare-review nya. Halimbawa, sinabi ng kaibigan mo, “Gustung-gusto kong pakasalan itong lalaking ito.” Tinanong mo, “Talaga bang gusto mong pakasalan siya?” Sa pagsagot nya sa iyo, pag-iisipan nya kung valid o hindi, strong or weak yung reasons nya. When you ask people to speak, you make them listen to themselves more than you wanting to listen to them.

Kaya kung talagang may malasakit ka sa tao, help them formulate the solutions to their problems and the conclusions about changes they want in their lives. Don’t turn situations into battles na may nananalo, may natatalo. Maraming ayaw na kino-correct sila. Kaya kahit mali ay sasadyain nilang gawin, huwag lang masabing nakinig sa iyo. Make people self-analyze and answer their own questions. Then it is easier for them to correct themselves.

If you see the poor oppressed in a district, and justice and rights denied, do not be surprised at such things; for one official is eyed by a higher one, and over them both are others higher still.

If you are powerful and influential, promote peace because you have the power to do it. Kung kayo ay manager ng isang kumpanya, napakalaki ng kapangyarihan ninyo na magpairal ng kapayapaan sa kumpanya kesa mag-play favorites and create trouble. Kung kayo ay isang mayor o barangay captain, ang laki-laki ng kakayahan ninyo na gawing matiwasay ang inyong nasasakupan dahil hawak ninyo ang lakas. Kung sino ang nasa mas mataas na posisyon, mas hawak nya ang lakas at kapangyarihan at pinakamalaki ang magagawa nya para magpairal ng kabutihan at kapayapaan. These power wielders can be the best proponents of peace.

Kaya kayong may kapangyarihan o impluwensiya, ariin nyo yang pananagutan upang magpairal ng kapayapaan. Kawawa ang isang organisasyon, komunidad, at bansa na ang hinahasik ng pinuno ay hindi kapayapaan kundi gulo sapagkat marami siyang ipinapahamak at ibinubulid sa mga mabibigat na mga suliranin.

Kung nasa atin ang kapangyarihan, maging maingat tayo sa ating mga pagpapasiya. Maging patas. Do not use your power to exact vengeance or to grant favors to your friends because when you are the leader of many, you are a friend of everyone in general and of no one in particular.

To use power to serve Satanic ideals is to betray the God who gives us that power. Power is given by God so you can promote good and execute justice.

Proverbs 11:25

A generous man will prosper. He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.

You get what you give away. When you are generous with praises to people, you will also get it. When you are generous with giving people your time, people will also give their time. When you are generous with kindness, people will also be generous with theirs. It will probably not be the same person all the time but another person. There will always be a balancing act because balance is the way of the universe.

Kung gusto natin ng refreshment, refresh others. It should always be you giving first then receiving in the end. Ang pinakabanal na pagbibigay ay yung nagbibigay ka dahil gusto mong magbigay. Kung hindi ka naman sobrang banal, magbigay ka na rin na parang investment. Hindi na rin masama yun. At least, nag-i-invest ka. If you cannot give out of holiness, give at least out of wisdom.

Pag may ginawa tayong mabuti sa kapwa, it has a way of coming back. Sa mga Statement of Liabilities and Assets, hindi natin nakikitang nakalista sa assets yung goodwill. Yung gumawa ka ng mabuti sa kapwa, ngumiti ka, tumulong ka, nagbigay ka, nakiisa ka. Hindi natin nakikita ang ganong mga bagay. Pero ang goodwill ay isang napakahalagang asset. Darating ang goodwill sayo, and also good things, because you do good to others.

Proverbs 27:24
… riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generations.

Sabi nila, diamonds are forever. Yes. Pero yung diamond mo, hindi forever na sayo. Minsan, napupunta kay Antonio Tambunting, sa Agencia Cebuana o sa La Marqueza Pawn Shop. Ayon sa Bible, kailangang binabantayan mo ang iyong financial standing. May plano. Hindi yung “Ay naku, bahala na ang Lord.”

Live according to a planned budget. Kung ang mga mahal nyo sa buhay ay nagtatrabaho sa ibang bansa, kailangang magplano kayo. “Dalawang taon ka dyan, darling? Ganito ang kikitain mo buwan-buwan. Ganito dapat ang ma-save natin para pag-uwi mo, at least, may maliit na tayong negosyo.” Mahirap ang walang plano. Pag dating nang dating ang pera, gastos naman nang gastos. Pag umuwi na si mister, wala na naman. Wala pang dalawang buwang nakakabalik, ang alahas ni misis isa-isa nang nawawala. Kaya kailangan ay may plano and live according to your plan.

Alam nyo ang numero unong sumisira ng plano? Ang mga kamag-anak, hindi ba? Kasi ganun sila. Ang tinitingnan nila ay yung naiipon nyo. Kaya kailangang gumawa kayo ng plano and stick to your plan.
