These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
A family can sometimes be just a display window, isang lugar, isang institusyon, isang grupo kung saan mo idinidisplay ang displayable, naipagmamalaki ang dapat ipagmalaki, ipinagmamapuri ang kapuri-puri.
But a family should always be a refuge, a sanctuary. This means that even those members who are not displayable find themselves welcome and happy in their family because it offers refuge. Kahit hindi sila achievers, meron silang lugar sa pamilya na laging bukas sa pagtanggap, laging may pag-ibig at kapayapaan.
A family should also be a school. God expects parents to teach their children well. Sa pagtuturo daw ng mabubuti, dapat itanim sa isip ng mga anak ang lahat ng tama, mabuti at maka-Dios na mga gawi. The family teaches positive values, godliness, love for country, industry and good citizenship. Mahalaga ang ibinigay na ministry sa family, lalo na sa mga heads of family.
Happy families hope and work for the best but also accept the worst. Pinakamabuti kung yung inaasahang bagay ay magbibigay ng kasiyahan at kahulugan. Ang pinagsisikapang maabot ay yung pinakamataas na puedeng maabot pero tinatanggap din nila kung ano man ang kahinatnan ng bawat miembro. Dapat may unconditional love and acceptance. That’s what family is for.
