Love your children evenly. Dapat pantay-pantay ang pagtingin sa mga anak. What do we mean? Show no favoritism. May mga magulang na magsasabing, “Actually, no matter how much I try, mayroon talaga akong little favorite, e.” Pero dapat pigil-pigilan nyo naman yung tendency na sobrang i-baby yung isang anak ‘tapos halos hindi pansinin yung iba kung saka-sakaling mahigit sa isa ang inyong mga anak.
Don’t show any favoritism based on age, dahil siya ang panganay o ang bunso. Paano yung mga nasa gitna? Kaya pinakamaraming mga complex daw yung mga anak na pang-gitna.
Don’t show favoritism based on gender. “Lahat ng mga lalaki, sige, mag-basketball, maglaro nang maglaro. Yung babae naman labhan ang mga medyas nitong mga nag-basketball. Magluto at maglaba kayo d’yan.”
Don’t show any favoritism based on skill or personality. There is so much resentment that resides in a jealous heart. Karamihan sa mga deep-seated anger ng mga anak sa kanilang mga magulang ay dahil hindi sila paborito noong kanilang kabataan. At hindi laging nae-express ang ganitong pakiramdam. Minsan dun sa paboritong kapatid nagagalit. Kaya usually pag patay na yung mga magulang, dun naglalabasan ang mga away. “Ikaw na nga ang laging binibigyan ng nanay ng tiyan ng bangus at ako ay puro likod na lang, ‘tapos ngayon ikaw na naman ang magmamana ng lupa?” Nakatanim ang mga karanasang yan sa isip ng bata. Kaya kung hindi natin maiwasang magkaroon ng favorite, at least man lang, huwag tayong magpahalata.
