If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.
The Lord is emphasizing, “You love me? Love others. The best way to love me is to love people.” Una, natutuwa ang Dios pag minamahal natin ang tao. Pangalawa, paano mo naman mamahalin ang Dios? Maaabutan mo ba siya ng mainit na kape? Mapapahiram mo ba siya kung siya’y nagigipit? Maipagtatanggol mo ba siya sa kaapihan? No! Pero kung gusto nating mahalin ang Dios, ibigay nating lahat ang pagmamahal na yon sa kapwa tao, sapagkat para na natin itong ginawa sa kanya.
God doesn’t need us, but people do. When we attend to the needs of people, we’re actually attending to the Lord himself. Dahil creation nya yun, mahal nya yun. Wala kang puedeng gawin sa tao na hindi masasaktan ang Dios kung pangit ang iyong ginawa, at hindi nya ikatutuwa kung maganda ang iyong ginawa.
So huwag nyo nang hanapin ang Dios sa ibabaw ng mga bundok at sa pusod ng mga dagat para siya paglingkuran. Paglingkuran ang kapwa. Yun ang pinakamadali at pinakamabisang paraan na itinuturo ng Panginoon.
