2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.

To comfort in the Christian context is to strengthen a person so that he can face his problems and carry his cross. In other words, “Hindi ko bubuhatin yung cross mo for you dahil sayo yan naka-assign. Merong cross for me. We should be comforters.

That is not comforting. To comfort is to equip the person to face up to his own life, to look at his cross squarely and to carry it with strength, dignity and faith.

Ano ba talaga ang napapala natin when we comfort the bereaved? First and foremost, we help the bereaved. Secondly, it also helps us because when we comfort other people, we find substance and meaning in our own. Napakahalaga na sa ating buhay meron tayong katuturan at kahulugan.
