Because a friend loves at all times and a brother is born for adversity, therefore friendship brings us help in times of need and adversity.
Kadalasan, higit na mahusay makatulong ang kaibigan kaysa immediate members of the family because usually family members are in the same boat. If all of you are in the same boat, papaano ka naman masasagip kung pare-pareho kayong lumulubog? Halimbawa mag-asawa kayo, bigla kayong nagkalugi-lugi sa negosyo, di ba pareho rin kayong walang pera at pareho kayong gipit? It takes another person outside of your boat to extend help.
Your friend is in another boat. Iba ang kanyang pamilya, iba ang kanyang economics, iba ang kanyang sitwasyon. Sa mga times na bumabagsak ka, siya ang mas kayang maghagis sayo ng salbabida.
May mga tao who do not mind na maabala sila. They don’t mind helping and extending assistance, pero hindi sila humihingi ng tulong, nagpapagibik o napasasaklolo kung kailangan nila. Hindi nyo kaibigan yun. Of course, may mga tao rin naman na wala nang ginawa kundi mang-abala at mag-take advantage sa institution of friendship. Hindi rin kaibigan yun. But if you could approach someone and say, “Oy, wala akong magamit na kotse today, akin na nga ang susi ng kotse mo.” Ganun ka at ease kasi kaibigan mo.
What does this tell us? Na kaya tayo may kaibigan ay para meron tayong inaabala. At kaya tayo kaibigan ng iba dahil willing din tayong maabala.
