True love is the only acceptable motive for any godly action. Umiiwas tayo sa masama at gumagawa ng tama dahil mahal natin ang Dios. Tulad ng maraming ina, hindi sila napipilitang maging mabuti. Bukal sa kanilang loob dahil mahal nila ang anak. While fear of punishment has an effect (at hindi ko tinatawaran ang effect ng takot), naiiwasan natin ang actual na magkasala. Pero iniiwasan ba natin ang sin in the mind? If you probably have an adulterous or lustful orientation, but you’re afraid of punishment, definitely you will not go to a brothel to have sex with a prostitute. But this could be entertained in the mind.
Nang inaakit si Joseph sa Genesis 39 ng kanyang among babae na napakaganda sa loob ng tahanan nya mismo, napaka-convenient na wala ang among lalaki. Paulit-ulit ang pang-aakit sa kanya araw-araw. Pero hindi nya sinabing, “Nakakahiya naman sa amo ko” o “Paano naman ang reputation ko as a Jew?” o “Nakakatakot, baka ako mapugutan ng ulo. Baka ako maparusahan.” Ang sinabi nya’y “How can I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?”
Ganito ba ang ating motivation? We follow God because of our devotion to him? Pagka ganun ay walang dayaan because love always gives to the full. The reason why we should be godly is because God is worthy of our most honorable conduct. Deserve ng Panginoon ang ating pinakamataas na level of conduct.
