Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the desert.

Christ is full of the Holy Spirit. It’s important to be filled with and to aspire to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Alam natin that the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit kaya it must be consecrated or dedicated to the Lord. Hindi natin ito ginagamit sa mali. Hindi natin pinapatirahan sa maling espiritu upang ang Espiritu ng Dios ay hind maging mailap, hindi maitaboy at hindi umalis sa atin.

Maraming kabataan ang maagang nag-aasawa dahil umiiwas sa mga kaguluhan sa kanilang tahanan. Kung minsan ay magtataka ka. Bakit kaya ang bata-bata pa nito ay nag-aasawa na? Yun pala’y napakagulo ng mga magulang. Napakagulo ng set-up nila sa bahay. Sadly, many of them are not able to fully escape because they now create homes where such a situation repeats itself.

Maraming tumatakas kapag magulo. At ang unang umaalis sa ating puso kung magulo tayo ay ang Espiritu ng Dios. Hindi hiyang ang Espiritu ng Dios sa pusong magulo, marumi, at makasalanan. Bagamat di tayo nagiging totally sinless, we sin less and less so there’ll be more and more space for the Spirit in our lives. The number of sins we entertain is inversely proportionate to the space that the Holy Spirit will occupy in our hearts. Kaya’t pinapaalis natin ang masama sa ating sistema sa buhay nang sa ganun ay may espasyo para sa kabutihan ng Dios.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you…”

The first century Christians were known not for their knowledge but for their power. Pag ipinagpi-pray nila yung mga may sakit, naggagalingan. Pag may mga ginagawa sila kahit imposible, nagagawa.

Hindi nasusukat yung power sa kung kaya nyong magbuhat ng tone-toneladang bakal o kung kaya nyong lumangoy ng milya-milyang dagat, o kung kaya nyong tumalon mula sa kay taas-taas na mga pinanggagalingan. Well, that may be strength, but not power.

Ang tunay na power ay yung nagmumula sa kalooban. Yung nakakamuhi ang isang tao, pero naiibig mo pa rin, that’s power. Yung mahirap magpatawad, nakakapagpatawad ka, that’s power. Yung sa halip na magagalit ka, nagkakaroon ka ng puwang, ng pang-unawa sa kanya, that’s power. The power to forgive and to love, that’s the greatest power. And God gives that power.

Kung nanghihina ka man, dapat sandaling-sandali lang, para lang hangin na dumaan pero hindi dapat ang tagal-tagal. Tulad ng langaw paminsan-minsan dinadapuan ka, kahit ayaw mong nadadapuan ka; pero siguro naman binubugaw mo para hindi magtagal. Ganun din yung espiritu ng panghihina. Pag dumapo at nadaya ka at nanghina ka naman—teka, teka, teka! Sino ba ako? Anak ako ng Dios. Sino ba yung nagsu-sustain sa akin? Si Kristo, na pati ang kamatayan ay kanyang nagapi. Sino ba ang kakampi ko? The Lord of lords, the King of kings. So, bakit ako ganito? Hindi bagay sa akin.

Ecclesiastes 4:11

Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?

Aloneness, according to Solomon, makes life cold. A story was told to me a long time ago tungkol sa isang winter na pagkalamig-lamig. May tatlong taong naglalakad. Hindi na makalakad yung isa. Sino ang bubuhat ngayon sa kanya, e ang kapal-kapal ng snow at napakahirap maglakad? Mata-trap sila sa snow; ang layo pa nila sa bayan.

Selfish yung isa. Ang sabi nya, “Problema nyo yan. Mauuna na ako sa inyo. Maglalakad na lang akong mag-isa.” Naiwan ang ikalawang lalaki naman na halos matumba-tumba sa ikatlong taong hindi makalakad. Sabi nya, “Hindi ko kayang tiisin at iwanan ito,” kaya’t binuhat na lang nya. Pasan-pasan nya at hila-hila pero hindi nya iniwanan sa yelo. Sa loob-loob nya, “Siguro malapit na sa bayan yung nauna dahil wala siyang dala. Puedeng-puede siyang maka-survive.”

Di nagtagal, may nakita silang parang tuldok sa snow. Nang makalapit na sila, nakita nilang ang tuldok na yun pala ay ang nauna nilang kasama. Naging yelo dahil wala siyang kasama. Sa lamig ng panahon ay naging frozen at namatay. Dahil buhat-buhat ng pangalawang tao yung di makalakad, ang init ng katawan nila’y nagkatulungan para sila’y patuloy na mabuhay. Dahil may burden siya sa iba, nagkaroon ng kahulugan ang buhay nya at na-extend pa ito.

This is the importance of sharing our life with others and carrying other people’s burdens. Nagkakaroon ng additional life ang life natin. Nare-recharge ng buhay ng iba ang buhay natin. We also become the beneficiaries in the end. The people we carry can be a blessing.

1 Timothy 5:21

I charge you…to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism.

Favoritism happens everywhere. Nangyayari ito sa pamilya. Paborito ka ng tatay o ng nanay, at kawawa naman yung kapatid mo na hindi paborito. Nangyayari rin yan sa mga kumpanya. Yung mga paborito, lalo na mga kamag-anak, napo-promote at ang mga kamalian ay napagtatakpan. Ang lagi na lang nakikita ay ang pagkakamali ng iba. Nangyayari rin ito sa iba pang institusyon at nagiging sanhi pa nga ng pang-aabuso.

Leaders and people vested with authority are everybody’s leader, nurturer and protector. Kung tayo ay binigyan ng Dios ng kapangyarihan para mamahala sa isa o sa isang milyong tao, tungkulin nating sila ay tulungan, turuan, akayin, bigyan ng mga pagkakataon, palaguin, bigyan ng lakas ng loob at arugain. Hindi tayo namimili lang ng iilang aarugain at papabayaan na natin yung iba.

Kaya mahirap sa mga lider yung sobrang maraming kaibigan at mga kapalagayang-loob sapagkat ang mga ito ang maaaring maging daan para masira ang linis ng iyong kalooban. Sila minsan ang nang-uudyok para gamitin mo ang kapangyarihan upang sila ay protektahan, bigyan ng benepisyo, at kampihan laban sa kanilang mga kaaway.

Pananagutan ng mga taong inatasan ng Dios na manungkulan ang maging patas – maging sila ay padre de familia, mga corporate managers, church leaders, o government officials. Kaya nga marami ang nagsasabing leadership is a lonely road. And one form of loneliness is trying to detach from everybody so you can be objective.

Luke 4:8-9

When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken.

Naalala nyo si Peter when he took the Lord on his boat and they went to the deeper water? Hindi pa nya kilala masyado ang Lord, ang alam lang nya ay nagtuturo at nagmi-miracle siya. Pero nang kinonfront si Peter ng Lord face to face, na-realize nya kung sino ang kaharap nya. Nagpatirapa siya at sinabi, “Leave me, Lord, I am a sinful man” meaning “I do not deserve to be in the same boat with you.” He felt so unworthy.

So the moment we commit sin, we ponder God’s holiness. And if we look at his holiness from an enlightened point of view, then we will be repentant. I don’t mean casually confessing like this: “Lord, as usual, nagkasala na naman ako. Alam mo naman, talagang ganyan lang ang buhay. Sorry ha?” O kaya bago tayo matulog, nag-pray tayo ng “Lord, forgive me for all my sins. Hindi ko na maalala lahat, but you know them all. I’m sorry, Good night.” Nasaan ang repentant heart mo? You treated sin very lightly. Confession is done in a mechanical manner so there is no forgiveness. Don’t be deceived.

We must repent first. Study, evaluate and ponder the holiness of God. The only correct thing that will happen to us next is to feel sorry—yun bang may kasamang hiya at panliliit. That’s the only way to react to the holiness of God.
